Dear Father Demetrios:
I write this letter, to tell you how very glad I am to have come across your presentation on the World Wide Web about the dear little Child-Martyr, Alexei Nickoevich. (Editors notes: The Heir to the throne of Russia and the son of the Royal Martyrs Tsar NIcholas II and Tsarina Alexandra).
I, the chief of sinners, have asked for the prayers of the innocent Tsarevich within the last six months. Who better than this patient sufferer could empathize with some acute difficulty in walking that I experienced this winter? All I dared asked for was patience and courage as I underwent therapy, for I thought that the acute pain would not go away soon. Anyway, as I kept up with the physical therapy and saw my doctor, I asked the little Heir to intercede. How strong the innocent are with God, as Dostoyevsky wrote in the Brothers Karamazov! For one day in January, I noticed the pain was not constant any more. For this I thank God, and my therapist, but also, surely Alexei, who glorifies the Merciful God all the more in lifting up the prayers of those unworthy, such as myself.
Now I am asking the Child-Martyr to intercede on behalf of a six-year old child and his family, who must now deal on a long term basis with this boy's cancer. The boy's name is Alex. I don't even know these people myself, but I fee concern for this family.
Certainly it is Christ Jesus, Friend of Mankind, that has put any such selflessness in me, who can do nothing by myself. But this sweet little Tsarevich knows, if anyone does, how important it is for families to be close and for each member to draw strength and comfort from one another when one child suffers. I believe our Lord will all to gladly listen to Alexei when he prays for Alex and his family, along with me, a poor sinner, and so many other people!
Again I wish to thank you for serving God through your presentation. How good to see it today! May God Bless and protect you.
Yours very truly,
Pray Unto God For Us!
Glory Be To God For All Things!
