Loving Missionary Support In Building A New Church Of The Assumption Of The Virgin Mary in Dracut, Massachusetts
Compiled by Archimandrite Nektarios Serfes
Boise, Idaho, USA
October 2002

Let us together help our brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord to rebuild their Church.

Introduction by Father Nektarios Serfes:
Our great loving support is needed to help rebuild a Greek Orthodox Church in Dracut, Massachusetts of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Previously this Church burned to the ground at another location in Lowell, Massachusetts, and now the faithful of this parish have sought to rebuild their Church with Christian love in Dracut, Massachusetts

It's a blessing indeed to see the great efforts that are being done to build this Church, and we can well imagine the expense today. I received the following letter from the parish faithful, and the priest who is helping them to complete this effort, we can all but only respond and help them, let us do it together as a loving Eucharistic Community caring and assisting our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Dear Very Rev. Archimandrite Nektarios Serfes,

We greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In these times of disaster and world unrest, our families and children must be protected and given the Great Faith of our Church. When our Church building burned to the ground three years ago, we became determined to pursue are tremendous challenge of constructing a new church. We left our inner city location at the direction of our Bishop, and began building a Byzantine style place of worship in Dracut, Massachusetts. We near the completion of the building and must now begin to furnish it with holy objects and needed materials for instructing children and adults in the faith. Therefore, we turn to you, to help us in this enormous task.

Our most holy Theotokos, the Virgin of the Dormition, has watched over our progress and we have seen and experienced many miracles. They began with the healing after the fire, which left the community wondering and confused. Today, we have thriving and growing community. Many new families in the surrounding area, who have long been without a church community, have started coming to this parish in search of hope and joy, and security of faith for their children.

We appeal to you for help. The most holy St. Basil saw the tremendous need of people in a world opposed to the holy faith and its instruction. In the face of opposition, he built the New City and installed in Orthodox hearts for all time the hope of Christ's great gift of life. Many came to the aid of St. Basil and helped his dreams become reality. That is our call to you, today. Can you help us build this faith community? Any donation will be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help you can send to our community.

Sincerely in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Chrsit and His Most holy Mother, the Theotokos.
